Academic Interview Coaching Program
Admission to a university program is the start to a completely new chapter of your career. Academic interviews are not job interviews, but pack even more pressure. Through my Academic Interview Coaching Program, you'll speak confidently about your reasons for applying, but also the future contributions you hope to make.
Program Content
Academic DNA

In an Academic Interview, you're expected to speak about your past, your present, and your future. We'll work together to identify the most relevant information from your career past, but also how to accurately communicate how the university's program will help you reach your goals.
Personal Questions

After a careful study of your application materials, we'll prepare for topics that you may be asked as follow-up questions to your application essays, resume, and personal statement.
Answer Structures

Our goal is not to memorize answers, but rather for you to communicate confidently, coherently, and flexibly in your interview. To do that, you'll practice using structures appropriate for academic interviews to communicate persuasively, but also humbly and respectfully.
Case Study Database

Instead of memorizing answers, we'll work together to develop a flexible Case Study Database that shows the interview you'll be a student who not only is a great community member, but also who makes positive contributions.
This isn't English class
Although my program is designed specifically for non-native English speakers, this is not English class! Instead, the goal is to show you how to use certain tools and strategies with the English level that you have right now.
Internalized Structure, No Memorized Answers
The most difficult part about any interview is simply: we do not know what you'll be asked. For that reason, memorizing answers does not work. Rather than crafting perfect answers for questions you may or may not be asked, we'll learn strategies that can be applied to any question you are asked in the interview.
Simulated Practice & Lots of Feedback
The best way to prepare for an interview is with targeted feedback. That's why in each session, we prioritize communicating in the same style as in an interview. You'll receive honest feedback for improvement, taking small steps towards more confident communication.
An effective session for us means you've done 80% of the talking (speaking in the style of an interview), and your coach does 20% of the talking (giving feedback for improvement).
Each session involves a preparation assignment, ensuring continuity in your preparation, but also leading to more effective coaching sessions.
